Giving it to Keep It

Giving it to Keep It

I cannot enjoy a sparrow by holding onto it, I need to hold my hand flat and let it come and go. I cannot grow in my recovery by hanging onto each and every awareness or personal gain for dear life. I have to give it away to keep it. I will nourish the light that is constantly growing within me knowing that it will be a comfort to others. Sometimes just knowing someone is there and looking peaceful inside is more powerful than all the advice in the world. So many people have helped me along the way – it is also part of my recovery to share what I have learned, in case it might help someone else. Today I will let God speak through me, move through me, be in me.
I will let God’s light shine through me
People are like stained-glass windows.  They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.
